It’s most famous for its bar streets with prostitutes. Yes, pretty big, if you want a calmer and more relaxed place, book a hotel in Jomtien which is nearby.
Pattaya is a part of Chonburi Province. Most of the popular tourist areas are located close to Beach Road, Pattaya 2nd Road and the side sois. Naklua on one end and Jomtien on the other end.
Get a hotel not far from Pattaya 2nd Road and you can walk to many places. Lots of new modern malls, several movie theaters, lots of street vendors, restaurants and cheap 10 baht transportation within the city. Hotels are cheaper than Bangkok and Phuket.
Lots of bars, beer bars and go-go bars. Just like the bars in your own country you get pretty girls in them and some that are less pretty. Up to you! Best thing about Pattaya is that it is real cheap to take the 2 hour VIP bus from Bangkok to Pattaya – if you don’t like the place you can take the same cheap bus back to Bangkok!
the Pattaya area is now the second largest city in Thailand, if you include the immediate surrounding area. Jomtien Beach is the best place to stay, I think, and the ride into the city is only 10 baht on a song taew.
There are over 200 girl bars in the area. About the same number of restaurants, with at least 50 very good ones. The new Central Festival Mall is world class, quite large; many restaurant, a large theater and a bowling alley.
Koh Lan is a nice island right in the bay, with a white sand beach on the other side (Samae). Nong Nooch Tropical gardens and the whole Wat Yan complex are worth seeing, especially the Chinese museum there.
It’s a good place to visit since you mentioned girl bars, not the place I think for middle class families.

Good luck.
Yes its good to visit.Got 2-3 big shopping centres all with big brand shops or you can get the fakes at stalls.
Bar girls very pretty.
I like going to the beach at night and having a beer, relaxing and watch the ocean. Always friendly people there that like visitors to thailand.
They’ve closed down all the bars there and all the pretty girls have been sent back to Isaan. It’s now being run by monks as a spiritual retreat.
